TIME: An explanation is an experience is an experiment.

We are a class in the nation’s only free-standing public art college, the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. There are 17 of us. We range in age from 18 to 40.

The class was designed by Judith Leemann to serve as a Studio Foundation TIME class, a required course for all freshmen, and to function simultaneously as a satellite site for inquiry into the themes of the Hairy Blob exhibition. Hairy Blob, curated by Adelheid Mers for the Hyde Park Art Center, runs from April 22 to July 22, 2012 and takes as its focus the way artists model time, with a particular orientation to how that modeling affects thinking about resources.

Each of the works here is anchored at three points: the shared inquiry of the class into temporal phenomena, the themes of the Hairy Blob exhibition, and the personal curiosity of the individual maker.
